CEFTRIAXONE INJECTION
Ceftriaxone sodium is a third-generation , broad -spectrum and long-acting cephalosporin .It is bactericidal against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive .It's also highly stable to β-lactamase.
Compositon:
Each vial contains : Ceftriaxone Sodium eq.to Ceftriaxone 1g
(with 5ml or 10ml water )
Indications :
Clinically used for the infections due to susceptible pathogens :
Respiratory tract infections : pneumnia, bronchitis, pulmonary suppuration , pyothorax
Otorhinolaryngologic infections
Renal and urinary tract infections : pyelonephritis, prostatitis , cystitis , urethritis
Urogenital infections , especially for gonorrhea and soft chancre.
Abdominal infections :peritonitis , biliary and gastrointestinal infections
Meningitis
Osseous, articular ,soft tissue , skin and wound infections
Septicemia
Prophylaxis in operation and post-operative infections
Method of use:
For I.M. , dissolve 1g/0.5g of Ceftriaxone sodium in 4ml/2ml of 1% Lido caine.
For I.V. , dissolve 1g/0.5g of Ceftriaxone sodium in 10ml/5ml of water for injection .
Warnings :
Any allergic reactions should be reported to the physician .
The reconstituted solution for I.M. injection containing Lido caine must not be used in intravenous way .
The drug must not be mixed or administered simultaneously with calcium-containing solutions or products ,even via different infusion lines .
Contraindications :
Breast -feeding women and those who are allergic to cephalosporins are forbidden .
Storage:
Store in a cool and dry place below 30ºC . Protect from light .
