Composition:
Each uncoated tablet contains: Folic acid .............5mg

Therapeutic Indications :
Folic acid is necessary for the normal production and maturation of blood cells and is used in the treatment of megaloblastic nutritional anemias, for example , it can also be used prophylactically in chronic hemolytic conditions or in renal dialysis .
Dosage and mode of administration :
Adults (including the elderly)
In megaloblastic anemia deficient in folate : 5mg daily for 4months; it may be that up to 15mg per day is required for malabsorption states.
In folate deficiency induced by a drug , 5mg per day for 4 months ,it may be that up to 15mg per day is required for malabsorption states .
For prophylaxis in chronic hemolytic conditions or in renal dialysis , 5mg every 1 to 7 days depending on the underlying disease.
Prevention of neural tube defects in women at risk , 5mg per day begins before conception and continues throughout the first trimester.
Pregnancy:
In established folate deficiency : 5mg per day continued to term.
Children :
For younger children , a more appropriate dosage form should be used.
Contraindications :
Folic acid should never be used in the therapy of patients with vitamin B12 deficiency of any cause unless there is associated folate deficiency . Heamatological diagnosis is essential .
Known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.
Storage:
Store below 30ºC in a cool dry place .Protect from light .
