AMINOPHYLLINE INJECTION
Composition:
The Injection of Aminophylline Inj. contains anhydrous theophylline not less than 74% and normore than 84% of the labelled amount of Aminophylline.
Clinicalpharmacology:
Aminophylline relaxes bronchial smooth muscle , relieves bronchospasm ,and has a stimulant effect on respiration . It stimulates the myocardium and central nervous system , decreases peripheral resistance and venous pressure , and causes diuresis .
Pharmacokinetics :
Aminophylline , a complex of theophylline with eghylenediamine , readily liberates theophylline in the body . Theophylline is approximately 40% bound to plasma protein, but in neonates , or adults with liver disease , binding is reduced .Optimum therapeutic serum concentrations are generally considered to range from 10 to 20ug per mL although some consider a lower ,range appropriate .
Contraindication:
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to aminophylline .
Precaution:
Aminophylline should be given with caution to patients with peptic ulceration , hyperthyroidism , hypertension , cardiac ,arrhythmias or other cardiovascular disease , or epilepsy , as these conditions may be exacerbated . Aminophylline should also be given with caution to patients with heart failure , hepatic dysfunction , chronic alcoholism , acute febrile illness , and to neonates and the eldrly.
