Composition:
Each 5ml ampoule contains:
Vitamin C.....................................500mg
Pharmacology:
Ascorbic Acid , a water-soluble vitamin , is essential for formation of collagen and intercellular material, and therefore necessary for the development of cartilage, bone , teeth and foe the healing of wounds.Its also essential for the conversion from folic acid to folinic acid , facilitates iron absorption from the gastro-intestinal tract and influences haemoglo bin formation and erythrocyte matruation.
Indications:
The provention and treatment of scurvy or other conditions requiring vitamin C supplementation where the deficiency is acute or oral administration is difficult.
Contraindications:
Hyperoxaluria.
Dosage and Administration:
Ascorbic acid is given parenterally,preferably by the Intramuscular route, but also by the intravenous or subcutaneous routes. Doses of 25 to 75 mg daily in the prevention of deficiency and 250 mg or more daily in divided deses for the treatment of deficiency have been recommended or as prescribed by the physician.
